Held a Kel-Tec RFB today.....

1 Attachment(s)
I was at Delray Shooting Center in Florida, and they had one.
Frickin' thing is NICE.

Doesn't feel like a Kel-Tec, if that makes sense.

Said it was serial number 17!!!

Just under $3000 though.

(The wheels were turning as to how I'd swing that.....)

Looked awesome with a $500 EOTech on top too.

This is not the actual gun....

Jealousy!
How do you mean by 'doesn't feel like a KelTec'?
what brand would you say it felt more like?
does it feel solid?
how's the balance?

so the deal with this is that the chamber is at the rear in the stock area? enabling the distance between that location and the standard chamber position to be used as barrel? Seems like a clever idea to me. Asthetically its not much to look at, but hey 600m practical range.

Whats the benefit of the forward ejection port? Are those kind of distances and the necessary mechanics to make it all work likely to introduce more points of failure?

It looks like an interesting idea. The compact "bullpup" design may permit a longer barrel/higher velocities in a shorter package.

From the video I saw of this weapon months ago, I was not at all impressed (which is worth less than you paid for it, by the way) with how the weapon ejected empty cases. I would prefer a weapon that grabs the empty case, extracts it form the chamber, then throws it the hell out of the way before chambering a new round. This weapon seemed to gently "poop" the empty cases out of the opening near the front of the weapon. I wonder how it would stand up to some dirt/crud in the ejection path.

Keltec makes neat weapons - light weight & innovative (I own 3 of their pistols, plus a Grendel predecessor). I'm just not all that thrilled with this one.

Does this weapon take standard magazines, or proprietary? What calibers are they producing it in?

It uses FAL Magazines (Metric) and is only in 7.62 NATO

The reason for the forward ejection is so that left handed users aren't hit in the face with hot brass every time they shoot it.

By the way, the case is forcefully pushed into the tube by the bolt, so a little dirt in the tube wouldn't impede it.

Balance is awesome.
It just feels solid as hell. Very well made.
I REALLY like this weapon.

Thinking of selling my DSA Para FAL to get up enough and make the RFB my Battle Rifle.

OK....obviously, you should do what makes you happy. If you're going to make the Keltec rifle your "Battle Rifle", you're switching from a time proven design with very available repair parts to a brand new (on the market) 1st generation rifle with repair parts available solely from the manufacturer. That would make me nervous.

Kel Tec's have a lifetime warranty and from my experience are great guns.

I wish they made this RFB in 7.63X29.
